The calibration and testing charges have been classified in the area of activities of the various sections of this laboratory. For calibration, the ‘parameters’ of measurement are given in the bracket just below the area of the activity. Testing areas are listed separately. The customers are supposed to know the ‘parameter(s)’ (like volume, torque, capacitance or magnetic flux etc.) for which the particular item is to be calibrated or the ‘area of testing’ for the testing of any sample. In case of any enquiry, you are requested to Contact CFCT .

The HRD Group of NPL is a constituent group of SASD 8 & represents a central group of the laboratory providing a wide range of HRD services. It undertakes several activities in various areas of core competence of the lab and also related to research scholars/students.

The basic object behind these activities is to make the Human Resource better informed, knowledgeable and highly skilled & trained so that it can prove to be more competitive, productive and useful to the society and the country.

HRD Group is involved in various activities, such as :-

2011-12, HRD Group

Besides calibration and testing facilities provided to the customers for maintaining the national traceability chain of measurement, NPL has developed the know-how for fabrication of some items to be used by the customers. The fabricated items are not available of the shelf as the fabrication is done as per customer’s demand and specifications. The customers are therefore requested to get the quotation and make the full payment in advance by Demand Draft in favor of ‘Director, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi’, payable at New Delhi.

CFCT
1. Getting the quotation

Most of the queries of the customers, including the charges, are answered through our website www.nplindia.org at “calibration and testing” link. In case of any further clarification or for obtaining the formal quotation from NPL, the customers are requested to contact us through email/fax/letter etc. by providing specific and detailed requirements of your work. Please note that the details like parameter to be calibrated, range, accuracy, principle of working of instrument etc. can only help us in providing the correct reply from our side. Simply writing the name of the instrument is not sufficient. Similarly for testing purposes, area of testing, specifications of test parameters, if any, and sample material etc. should be mentioned.

2. Submitting the instruments/samples for calibration/testing

The customers are requested to submit the following documents along with the instruments/samples at our office: Centre For Calibration and Testing (CFCT), National Physical Laboratory, Dr K. S. Krishnan Road, New Delhi – 110012. In case of courier put a label on the parcel “TO CFCT FOR CALIBRATION“. Instruments/samples sent through courier will only be accepted, if the payment is received in advance. The courier should accompany reference of the payment details. NPL will not bear any responsibility for the condition and quantity of the contents of the parcel.

i.        Calibration & Testing Request form (CTR form) . (Available online)

ii.       Demand Draft in favor of ‘Director, National Physical Laboratory’ payable at New Delhi of required amount including service tax (Service tax @ 10.3% or the rate prescribed by the Govt. from time to time is to be included in the charges given in the website or in the quotation). DD amount should be rounded to the nearest Rupee.

iii.     Copy of quotation (if any) given by NPL

iv.     Covering letter on your letterhead describing your calibration/testing requirements and the break-up of the charges being paid by you through Demand Draft. TDS if any, should also be mentioned.

v.      Copy of any other communication related to the job (i.e. Slot Booking, Surplus ammount details etc.).

3.     Initiation of the work

After receiving the above mentioned documents, instruments/samples and the charges through Demand Draft, a ‘Case File’ will be prepared by us and the ‘Case Number’ will be allotted for the job. A customer Identity Number will also be allotted in the case of new customers. Please always use the Case Number and the Customer Identity Number for any reference in future. The customer will be provided a receipt for the instruments/samples, draft and the expected date of completion (EDC) of the job. The balance/surplus amount, if any, will also be indicated in the receipt. The customers are supposed to pay the balance amount by Demand Draft before the completion of the job. The certificates/reports and/or instruments/samples will be given only after realizing the total charges for a particular Case File. The surplus amount may be kept for future use or be refunded as per the customer’s choice.

4.     Completion of the work

The customer will have to make his own arrangements for collection of instruments/samples within 3 months after completion of the job or the expected date of completion (EDC) whichever is later, by authorizing a courier or a person. The authorized person should come to collect the instrument/certificate with proper authority letter and identification card. If the instruments/samples are not collected within this period, NPL will be free to dispose it off in any manner, it deems fit. NPL does not provide the facilities for packing of the instruments/samples.

In the case of an option “certificates collection by hand”, the Certificates/Reports should be collected within two weeks of completion of the job or expected completion date whichever is later. After that the Certificates/Reports, in any case, will be dispatched through Post, if the full charges are paid.

5.    Slot booking and other information:

Due to long lead-time in some areas, the customers are advised to book a time slot in advance for their calibration/testing jobs by making 100% payment of the charges by following the procedure as mentioned above. Under exceptional circumstances, Express Service is also provided at double the normal charges. However, our Normal Service to other customers is not affected.

In the absesnce of formal request for revision of time-slot, there will be 15% deduction of the charges if the instruments/samples are not submitted on or before the starting date of the time-slot.

At any stage, if it is found that the calibration/testing cannot be done due to faulty instrument/sample or due to the reasons attributable to the customer, only 85% of the calibration/testing charges will be refunded. Please ensure that instruments/samples are well in working conditions and all necessary ancillaries are provided for performing required calibration/testing work.

Our STC No. AAALN0272HST001; PAN: AAALN 0272H; TAN: DELN 06671A and Syndicate Bank A/C No.: 91002010030018
